Rebuilding “purchased in 30 days and did not refund” on every chart drifts; a segment stores that set and keeps a 30-day size trend. Anonymous visitors have no profile, so they are never members.

Metrics & definitions
| Kind | When it updates | How people get in |
|---|---|---|
| Rule | Daily, or manual | Did, did not, property, first seen, active, in a segment, sequence, tag, random bucket, preference |
| Static | Only on import | One person id, email, or type, value per line |
| RFM | Daily | A transaction event and an amount property. Leave the amount empty to use counts. Quintiles map to 10 buckets |
| Live | At collect time | Just did an event, visited a page, or arrived from a channel. No daily rebuild |
The 10 RFM buckets are champions, loyal, potential loyalists, new, promising, needing attention, about to sleep, at risk, cannot lose, and hibernating. Moves between buckets are on the segment. The 11-way split on the commerce page is a different model; see RFM.
Identity can be person, device, visitor, or account. If member expiry is greater than 0, people with no new activity for that many days leave; new activity resets the clock.
How to use it
- Create a rule segment for “did purchase in 30 days” and “did not refund”, preview the count, then save.
- For a fixed list, use a static segment and paste ids after saving. Unmatched lines are reported.
- View users opens People & user lookup. Analyze applies the segment as a cohort in analysis.
A refresh records who joined and who left. If a webhook is configured, TapCub emits a membership change. Pausing stops recomputation and keeps current members until you resume.
Access & limits
Owners, admins, and analysts can create, refresh, and import. Viewers cannot edit segments. Live segments depend on collection. With identified mode off, a person-scoped segment has no members.
FAQ
Why do the preview and the list disagree? The people list hides test users by default. Turn on Include test users and compare again.
Why are RFM buckets empty? The lookback has no matching transaction event, or the amount property name does not match the event.
