Session analysis looks at one visit; whether the person is back days later is Retention, and how pages connect is Paths. This is not a support conversation.
ConsoleAll-platform analyticsBehaviorBehavior analysisHow to configure
The builder lists Sessions as a type. There is no extra parameter form. The server accepts one setting: how many entry and exit pages to keep, default 10, at most 50. Time, filters, segments, and identity still apply; see Measurement × Behavior. No breakdown and no compare period. Identity defaults to person. A custom property identity has no property column on the session table, so it falls back to identified id, else device, else visitor.
To see sessions, average duration, bounce rate, pages per session, and engaged rate on a chart today, use the built-ins in Event analysis. Those definitions match this model.
How to read the result
The server returns session count, distinct subjects, average duration, average pages, bounce rate, and engaged rate; duration and page buckets; entry pages with that page’s bounce rate and exit pages with their share of sessions; 24 hours and Monday–Sunday in the site timezone; and a trend of sessions, average duration, bounce rate, and average pages. The builder’s chart does not draw this payload, so the panel is empty. CSV export does not include these columns either.
Limits & definitions
A session is included by its start time. Bounce means one page view and no custom event. Engaged means at least 10 seconds, or at least 2 pages, or a key event configured for the project. Average duration and average pages are plain means over session rows, not averaged per person first. Page buckets are 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, and 20. Duration buckets use the shared duration edges.
