None of the three creates a conversation until the visitor replies. Only after the visitor opens it and replies does the conversation appear in the inbox.
Three triggers
| Kind | Where | When it appears |
|---|---|---|
| Teaser card | Bubble teaser on Greeting & translation | About 4 seconds after arrival, once. Visitors who already have a conversation do not see it |
| Invite rule | Proactive invites in Chat settings | After the visitor stays on a matching page for the seconds you set, shown in an online agent's name |
| Message to a live visitor | Live visitors in the inbox | The agent writes one line. At most once per visitor per online window |
Invite rules
ConsoleLive chatChat settingsProactive invites- Matching: every page, path contains, path prefix, or regular expression. Dwell time is 3 to 600 seconds. The invite text is at most 300 characters.
- If several rules match one page, only the highest priority fires.
- By default each visitor is invited once. Turn that off and every new connection on a matching page shows the invite again.
- Matching and frequency run on the server. Nothing about the invite is written into the visitor's browser.
- The rule list records impressions, open rate, and reply rate, so you can retire lines nobody answers.
Rule counts follow the plan: Free 1, Pro 10, VIP 1 unlimited, VIP 2 50. The account page shows the limit in force. See Billing & quotas.
Messages to live visitors
Agent only members cannot open the live-visitor list by default. A line started from live visitors in analytics has the same once-per-online-window limit. See Visitor context.
